Mine was in California, back in the 70s. Over the years, it would have felt increasingly burdensome to accommodate practices that seemed to me like superstition. They seriously have movies about it. My brother is in medical school, and many of my friends are in their clerkship or already doing their residencies. I feel selfish to never be around but this is my dream so much so that I refuse to have children because I dont want my kids to have a workaholic mother who's never there. And some will do that. I bring him food I make sure he's happy. Although there are no strict rules as to who should do the asking, the Mormons are very conservative and in general, they expect guys to do the asking.
